Provisional Event Schedule Mon 30 July 2007: 10 km (walkers welcome) Wed 1 August 2007: Jacobs Ladder Challenge (699 steps up only) Fri 3 August 2007: Half marathon (21.1km) (walkers welcome) Note: the exact dates are subject to confirmation depending on local arrangements and arrival of RMS St Helena. The sailing schedule for 2007 and sponsorship arrangements are not yet available. The full marathon will only be organised if there are at least 5 participants. Route Description The start & finish for all races (except the Jacobs Ladder) are from the Prince Andrew School. Transport from Jamestown will be coordinated during the voyage. The Jacobs Ladder event starts in Jamestown (yes, at the bottom of the ladder). The maps below detail the route and course profile for the half marathon. The total altitude climbed (and descended) during the half marathon is 800 meters i.e it is a toughie! The suggested course for the marathon (which was a new event for 2003) will be confirmed after the number of marathon runners is known (at least 5 participants required). The 2003 route was the half marathon route followed by a loop along the full high-level circle road of the island. A future option is to have some of the loops of the half marathon, the high-level circle road and an out-and-back loop towards High Peak. The 10 kilometre is loop 1 and the half marathon part excluding loops 2 & 3. The fun run only does the central circuit. i.e. the road circle connecting the three loops. Check out the race reports of the third Festival of Running.Race entry fees The exact race entry fees will be announced shortly, but will be minimal, thanks to the sponsorship by St Helena Line. |
