The Voyage

Practicalities

· The voyage aboard the RMS St Helena which leaves from and returns to Cape Town. Contact St Helena Lines (E-mail: sthelenaline@mweb.co.za ; phone: +27-21-4251165 ; fax +27-21-4217485. Please indicate clearly that you intend participating in the Festival of Running to qualify for the discounted fare. Check out their website at http://www.rms-st-helena.com

· Your accommodation on the island. There are various grades and price ranges. You can book directly via the Internet (see links) or St Helena Lines will gladly organise that for the Festival participants.

· On the way to St Helena, the RMS currently calls at Walvis Bay in Namibia. If you are really pushed for time, it is possible to depart and return to those ports.

· If you don't live in or near South Africa or Namibia, you may need to book a flight to/from Cape Town International Airport, which is well-served by international airlines. Contact your local travel agent. It is advisable to leave at least one extra day "buffer" for your return flight in case the RMS gets delayed. Of course, if you can, you should spend some extra time in Cape Town. Contact Andy Campbell sthelenarun@mweb.co.za  for more information on Cape Town runs.

· If you are travelling on a tight budget, note that the cheapest cabins (and island accommodation options) go quickly, so book early. But also on other classes, capacity is limited and allocated strictly on a first-come first-serve basis. You snooze, you lose! :-)
